PASMUN had the goal of being completely paperless by utilizing online tools, including but not limited to those readily available on the internet. In 2017, PASMUN made a first attempt at digitalizing the conference by shifting all documents online and thus decreasing our carbon footprint.
Now, PASMUN has fully transformed itself into a digital, paper-less conference in an effort to uphold 21st century goals of digitalization and sustainability.
At PASMUN 2022, we will continue to run the conference with our digital platform to assist the note-passing and amendment submission processes without the wasteful use of paper. Students are therefore required to bring electronic devices. During the conference, students will be allowed to use their laptops during lobbying and debate. However, to prevent the laptop screens from blocking the speaker’s voice, only cellphones and tablets are allowed on the podium.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have opened up an opportunity for delegates and student officers to participate online. This year, on top of the already-existing note-passing and amendment submission systems, we are offering each participant a managed Google account through which they will gain access to the Google Classroom of their committee, as well as its Drive folder. On each Google Classroom page, delegates and chairs will be able to view all relevant documents for the two-day conference, including resolutions, amendment submission forms, tally sheets, etc. Mainsubmitters who participate virtually will also be able to submit their resolutions there for the approval panel. During committee sessions, online participants will be joining a video call via Google Meets, the link of which will be sent to the delegates by the chairs of the committee.
The accounts will be distributed to all participants shortly before the conference. Delegates are welcome to approach their chairs and in-room admins if they have any questions about setting up their accounts or accessing Google Classroom. The administrative team will be assisting participants throughout the conference should they encounter any technical difficulties.
